As we recover from our last conference of the year, we thought we would take a quick moment to recap the events of the last few, busy months.
40th Annual Meeting of the European Radiation Research Society | 1st - 5th September
The wonderful summer weather prevailed into early September as the conference came together within the dramatic surroundings of Dublin Castle. Attracting delegates from over 25 countries, ERR 2014 offered keynote lectures, speakers, proffered papers and 15 sessions covering all of the major disciplines of radiation science.
Petra was on hand to cover the event, receiving great feedback on our OxyLite Pro, GelCount and HypoxyLab. She also had the opportunity to catch client Prof. Stephanie McKeown’s Award Lecture on targeting tumour hypoxia.
2nd International Conference on Tumor Microenvironment and Cellular Stress: Signalling, Metabolism, Imaging and Therapeutic Targets | 27th September – 2nd October
Later in the same month, the conference-attending baton was passed onto Andy who enjoyed a brief stay in Corfu for this more intimate event.
The conference was broadly focused on identifying cellular models for tissue microenvironment studies and identifying candidate pathways and novel targets for therapeutic intervention.
Andy reported an overwhelmingly positive response to our personalized approach with the HypoxyLab. This was particularly with respect to its compactness and removable lightweight cover for easy cleaning!
A general theme that struck Andy in discussions with scientists and clinicians attending is how far we still are from effectively treating some of the more aggressive, hypoxic tumours. Cure rates remain depressingly low, prostate cancers and pancreatic cancers as an example.
AACR-NCI-EORTC Molecular Targets | 19 - 23 October
Once again the GelCount, OxyLite Pro and HypoxyLab took centre stage at the first of our stateside conferences this autumn.
Attended by almost 3000 scientists, academics and pharmaceutical representatives, discussions over the weekend included drug development and the impact of new discoveries in molecular biology.
Andy saw a lot of interest in our novel HypoxyLab hypoxia workstation, as well as in our GelCount colony analyser, which remains a hugely popular device with cancer biologists around the world.
Neuroscience 2013 | 09th – 13th November
Nearly 30,000 individuals flocked to San Diego for one of the biggest events of the year, where more than 11 key discussion meetings, 15,000 presentations and hundreds of exhibitors took place over five days.
Petra was on hand with the usual suspects, reporting a great response to our recently re-launched OxyLite Pro and OxyFlo Pro systems, which are capable for example of providing a real-time readout of cerebral pO2 and blood flow.
Neuroscience 2013 proved to be a useful platform for catching up with our worldwide network of distributors. Petra met with the CEO of Primetech Corporation (Tokyo,Japan) the CEO of KYS Technology (Taipei,Taiwan), the CEO of Medi Analytika (Chennai,India) and was also joined at the booth for two days by Charles Fan of China Gate Company (Shanghai, PRC)!
Stay tuned for updates on our next appearances.
