During the course of a refreshing Easter break in sunny Wales, I was able to catch my breath and reflect upon the trip Andy Obeid, our CEO, and I undertook to China last month.
We spent 10 days accompanied by colleagues from our growing Shanghai office, meeting new and existing customers for discussions, presentations and full scale practical product demonstrations. The hectic schedule encompassed visits to laboratories, hospitals and institutes across the country, including Shanghai, Hangzhu, Chongqing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Beijing.
Primarily this trip was focused on our new-generation OxyLite and OxyFlo products, which are continuing to attract interest from a diverse range of research areas such as organ transplantation, cancer biology, stroke and brain injury, ophthalmology and orthopaedic surgery.
This was an exceptionally intense and yet hugely rewarding business trip. Wherever we went we were buoyed by a friendly welcome, genuine enthusiasm and impressive scientific research programs. The burgeoning confidence of China's scientific and medical research community was clearly in evidence and we were delighted with the overall reception of our products as well as with the professionalism of the team at Oxford Optronix China.
We came away more excited than ever about growing a faithful user base in this fascinating and dynamic country, based on our company’s principles of a personal customer relationship, of total customer satisfaction, and on our commitment to providing a positive contribution to life-science research.
We have already begun planning a further visit towards the end of the year, with a focus this time on our newly-launched HypoxyLab hypoxia workstation. So stay tuned!
