Peerless Systems have developed an innovative method for measuring colour, turbidity, conductivity and pH in water samples.
The process uses trolleys holding 128 standard PET bottles which the operator can pre-load and push into the system ready for analysis. The bottles can be handled with or without caps (a ‘bottle piercer’ is used to penetrate the caps if necessary).
Peristaltic pumps are used to transfer the sample to each measurement station. The colour sample is filtered using a 0.45 micron filter roll, which is indexed while the sample is taken to ensure the filter never blocks. After each sample, the system flushes and empties the tubes to avoid cross-contamination between samples.
High-specification Cecil, Hach and Jenway meters are used to measure the four determinands – other meters can be used if the customer has a preference.
